There is Worship in the Act of Obedience

We Want to Worship, But Will We Obey?
Picture

Throughout the Old Testament the Israelites had difficulty practicing obedience to the LORD. They made sacrifices of burnt offerings on the altars of the temple, but they also failed to honor God through their obedience to Him. Let us look to David’s words of wisdom in Psalm 51 on how we should remedy this problem in today’s time.

“For You are not happy with a gift given on the altar in worship, or I would give it. You are not pleased with burnt gifts. The gifts on an altar that God wants are a broken spirit. O God, You will not hate a broken heart and a heart with no pride. Be pleased to do good to Zion. Build the walls of Jerusalem. Then You will be happy with gifts given on the altar that are right and good, with burnt gifts and whole burnt gifts. Then young bulls will be given on Your altar,” - Psalm 51:16-19 NLV.

You see, we must rid ourselves of pride and allow brokenness to lead us into God’s wholeness. There is worship in the act of our obedience. Let us also look to the example of
1 Samuel 13 & 15 to gain a greater understanding of how obedience should be a part of our worship. The LORD is looking for those who will be wholesome and totally obedient in their hearts and action.

Will you be one who honors the LORD through reverence and obedience, or will you be one who grieves His Holy Spirit?

Through worship, we sing songs of praise and lift our voices unto the LORD, but are we practicing obedience to His every command? We don’t want to become like Saul and put our worship in the wrong place.

Practicing obedience in our daily lives – honoring and seeking God by serving Him, the one True God, listening to the instructions He has given through His servants, and following through with our actions – should parallel our “temple” worship and will allow God to receive our worship and gifts of sacrifice as pure and good.

If we listen quietly, there are some changes that God has required for us to make in this pandemic season. Beyond the boundaries of corporate worship, the LORD is desiring our obedience. He is looking for those who will be obedient in this season – to put into practice all that He has required.

I urge us all to remember that “God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” – John 4:24 KJV

- Mark 10:46-52

WATCH: I Can’t See Him, But I Know that He’s Moving

We must desire to be free from blindness. The movement of God is often heard before it's seen.

Know that He’s close, because even when you can’t see Him, you can feel His presence.

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God (Matthew 5:8). A pure heart and diligent call can be your demonstration of a sincere faith.

• Hearing God will allow us to see His movement in our life
• His movement got your attention and His movements will make a difference
• Don’t be embarrassed, and don’t miss your moment. Others are getting what they need and so should you.

Don’t be embarrassed, and don’t miss this moment. Let your heart and call be pure, and don’t be troubled by those who are offended by your call.

The Lord will open your eyes and give you vision. Remove your coat and come to Jesus; don’t be embarrassed, and don’t miss God’s movement in your life.

There is salvation in acknowledgment of our blindness. The Lord can and wants to deal with spiritual blindness as well (John 9:35-41).

You cried out because you needed Him

• Remember His words

Luke 18:1-8

WATCH: "Pray and Don't Lose Hope"

Our prayers must be consistent, and we must never give up.

We can take everything to God in prayer because He hears us. Consistency in prayer is very important.

We can pray if we need justice. We can pray if you need peace, and we can pray if we need hope. We can take everything to God in prayer, because He hears but the consistency of our prayer are very important

Let’s look at Luke 18:1-8.

- You need to pray
- Prayer is powerful and effective
- Prayer is life-changing and will produce justice

The hymn writer tells us to take everything to God in prayer.

Oh, the peace we will often forfeit and the needless pain we bare, all because we don’t not carry everything to God in prayer.

Continue to pray and don’t lose hope if you want to see change, because God hears you and will work a miracle.

Take everything to God in prayer, and you will see His constant movement in your life.

Exodus 15:22-27

WATCH: From Bitter to Better in the Process of Healing

Don’t let it consume you - the Lord is preparing you for a new place and, no, you cannot take bitterness with you!

In life people will often become hurt and broken due to circumstances & situations that they may be facing - such as bad relationships, heartbreak, and disappointment (Psalm 147:1-6).

The Lord wants to mend you from the brokenness. He has seen your tears and understands your pain.
  • God will mend your brokenness.
  • Don’t become bitter; become better.
  • God will heal and deliver you from the hurt.
  • Do away with the bad relationships. Forgiveness doesn’t mean that you have to go back.

Don’t bound or restrict yourself because of bitterness. The pain leads you to purpose, and if you choose better instead of bitterness, your walk will be forever found in freedom.

Don’t be afraid to cross. God is leading to a place where bitterness can’t hinder you any longer.

Daniel 3:19-30 NLV

WATCH: Have Courage, and Just Keep Standing

Stand because...
It won’t consume you. Just keep standing. Choose faith over fear, and don’t be afraid of your furnace.

No matter how hot it gets, don’t bow, and don’t bend. Even if it gets you tied up, just keep standing (Daniel 3:19-30 NLV).
  • Be brave,and have courage
  • We must always trust in the Lord's ability, and know that He has a plan.
  • The bondage was meant to restrict your movement, but the Lord will set you free.
  • Understand when the Lord wants you to lead so that He may be glorified though your example.
  • God will look for leaders in the crowd.

The Lord will climb into the furnace with you. Don’t be afraid, even if it gets hotter, just keep standing. The Lord will set you free from the bondage that wished to restrict you. He will guide your feet to freedom and you will walk in victory. Trust Him because your steps have been ordered (Psalm 37:18-19 & 37:23-25).

Jeremiah 32:17

WATCH: It May Be Hard, But It's Not Impossible

This mission is not impossible. Before you tell yourself you can’t, remember who says you can!

Because, with God, the impossible becomes possible. Don’t laugh at God when His promises don’t make sense to you (Genesis 18:8-15).

• He knows what to do
• The mission is possible
• Nothing is too hard for God
• It can be done with His ability

What seems impossible to you is possible with God. Trust God's spoken words over you, and believe Him when He says it will done.

Is there anything too hard for God?
Jeremiah answers Jeremiah 32:17

Jeremiah 32:17 Prayer
Lord you are Sovereign. You made the heavens and earth with your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!

God’s Peace and the Stability of Your Mind

James 1:2-8
Mark 4:35-41

WATCH: "God's Peace and the Stability of Your Mind"

A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. Be sure that your faith is in God alone. And do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is unsettled like the waves of the sea and will be blown and tossed by the wind.

Do not allow the winds and storms of life to produce an atmosphere of chaos and confusion in your mind, heart, or life.

Have faith when you ask God for what you need. Believe, and you will receive.

The Lord will give you peace because you trust in Him, but you must keep your mind and focus on Him (Isaiah 26:3).

Trust in God and your relationship with Him will lead you to a place of peace and consistent stability in your heart, mind, and life.
  • Being double-minded will lead you to a place of confusion and instability.
  • God won’t let you perish. Don’t give up, and don’t become unstable in your way of thinking.
  • Our trust in God will always give us peace and stability within our hearts and minds.
  • Wavering and doubt will hinder your blessings and your ability to relax and receive.

Trust God and remain stable within your hearts and mind. God keeps His promises; receive your peace today and do away with all doubts and fears. God is not the author of confusion. He is the author and finisher of your faith.

A Time and A Season

Ecclesiastes 3:1-22
2 Corinthians 10:3-5

WATCH "A Time and A Season"

There is a time and a season for every activity under the heavens.

God's timing is not our timing, but our relationship and trust in God can serve as a guide and indicator concerning His correct timing and seasons for our lives.

It’s OK to be early, but don’t grow impatient as you wait on God - and don’t be afraid to ask Him for the time. We are to be anxious for nothing, and every prayer requests should be presented with Thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6-7).
  • Lord, what time is it?
  • Am I early or late?
  • Preparation and getting back on schedule
  • Understand that God is always on time

Learning to tell time in our spiritual walk with God and in the day-to-day of our lives is very important. Everyone should use their time wisely and want their work to be effective. Some seasons and times will be harder than others, but God will be present in every season and time period. Trust His timing, and trust His process.

Winter doesn't always start on time, nor does summer; but seasons will always change. And God will be present and in control of every season.

Reflecting:
Q: What should you do when God makes you a promise?
A: Begin preparing yourself
N: Understand that God is always on time (ref. The Book of John). Sometimes God is waiting on us to make preparations within our heart.

We must be determined. We must gain access through faith.

Luke 5:17-39
We must be determined.
We must gain access through faith.

Because faith will gain us access into the presence of God's power. Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1).

Even when you can't see a way, you must trust and believe that there is a way. Have faith in your refuge, and have faith in your strength; He won't be absent in your times of trouble.

Understand that the universe was formed at His commanded. Without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly and diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).

God is getting ready to command some things concerning your lives, but like these men in Luke 5:17-26, we too must be earnest and diligent. Despite the obstacles, we must be determined to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

We will let nothing get in our way nor hinder us from seeing His glory. We will follow this example of these men!

These verses tells us the power and the presence of the Lord was there to heal them. God wants us to have this type of determination when it comes to our breakthrough and miracle!!

We must be determined to be better; we must be determined to be healed.

We must be determined to receive our breakthrough. We must always make the effort and practice the application of His word, and we must be determined when it comes to experiencing the power of God in our lives because faith without works is dead!! - James 2:17 & 26

###

Your faith will gain you access into the presence of God's power.

Luke 5:17-26
Keep your focus, and get through the traffic. Don't lose your focus.
Even when it's raining in your life, God says, "Let me see your faith."

Regardless of what is coming up against you, regardless of the obstacles before you, you must be determined to see God's goodness - right here on the earth. Keep your faith, and have patience, and this will give us access to seeing the Lord's goodness.

if we want to see a breakthrough, a miracle? Then we must be determined.

Questions
Q: What will faith do for us? (use our title, Hebrews 11:1 as a reference)
A: F
aith will gain us access into the presence of God's power. Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1).

Q: What is the emphasis on faith? Why is it critical to have faith when it comes to experiencing the power of work of God in our lives?
A: Faith without works is dead. Without it, it is impossible to please God. James 2:17 & 26, Hebrews 11:1,6 Even when you can't see a way, you must trust and believe that there is a way. Have faith in your refuge, and have faith in your strength; He won't be absent in your times of trouble.

Q: What shall we do if we want to see a breakthrough?
A: We must be determined to achieve it. We must be determined to be better.
Luke 5:17-26 - we must be this diligent and this persistent in order to receive our healing.

###

We must get to and give it to Jesus.

Luke 5:17-26
The latter part of verse 17 tells us that the power of the Lord was in a certain space. We must do just as these men did in order to access that power in that space. We must be determined to get there - just as these men had a "Spirit of Determination." CR - Man should always pray and never give up

There must be teamwork
The team must be determined to get to Jesus
